Kennel Lararth are proud to be members of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme

LARARTH was established in 1994 and is owned by David & Sharon Bowen. Lararth is an affix which is effectively a brand name that differentiates our dogs and puppies from other breeders; the name Lararth was made up by using the last seven letters of our village name - LlanfihangeL-AR-ARTH.

We have always tried to apply a simple philosophy to our breeding; to emphasize type, size, temperament, soundness and to always be aware that good health is every bit as important as good confirmation. Our aim is to produce the German Shepherd who is intelligent, stable in temperament, with physical strength, beauty and abundant character

As a show team we have been fortunate to win in excess of 80 Challenge Certificates and over 50 Reserve Challenge Certificates at Championship shows held throughout the UK including Crufts. Lararth has held the title of Top Breeders in 2003, 2005 and most recently in 2016. The kennel has been proud to own dogs who have won National titles including Top Winning GSD, Top Sire, Top Stud and Top Brood Bitch.

Both David and Sharon were independently involved with the breed prior to the formation of Lararth giving them both over 35 years experience as breeders, handlers, exhibitors and judges of German Shepherds.

David became a Kennel Club Approved Championship Show Judge in 1999 and a GSD Breed Council Surveyor in 2008. He has not only been successful with GSDs but also with Show Racer Pigeons in which his highest accolade was winning Best In Show at the Old Comrades prestigious event at the Royal Horticultrual Halls, London in 1982.

Sharon has lived with the breed all her life and devloped an interest in the showing side in the mid 80s. Given the opportunity to handle dogs for owners at shows helped the interest to develop and as success came so the attraction to progress within the breed grew. Sharon became a Kennel Club approved championship show judge in 2005 and has judged both in the UK and Ireland.

Lararth has enjoyed success teamed with kennels including Bedwin and Lledfegin and there have been many good friends and supporters who have helped to make dog showing an enjoyable and rewarding hobby.

Two people stand out as constant friends, partners and great team players, always offering encouragement, help and assistance. Ever ready with loyal support and a compassionate word when needed they have shared our success over the years and made it more fun because it was shared with them. They are Mark Azan and Brian Wadlow, as much a part of Lararth as anyone.

In 1998 Mark turned the fortunes of Lararth around when he entrusted Apollo von Dakota to reside with us. From there on Mark has been a constant member of the team and proudly flies the Lararth flag in Jamaica.

In 2003 Lararth invited a partner to share the enjoyment of some of our dogs, Brian Wadlow has spent a lifetime devoted to the breed and has partnered David & Sharon in some momentous and memorable show moments with dogs which include Ch Lararth Odyssey, Lararth Dizney, Ch Lararth Sassy, Fenik Degli Achei, Ch Conbhairean Winona and now looks forward to the future with the newly crowned Champion Lararth Tevez and his brother, Thierry.
